President:
Marie Green:
Marie has been a Foundation leader since 1998 and leads our fundraising efforts. Marie is an Edward Jones Investment Representative. Marie has four children who attend or are graduates of the Hendrick Hudson schools.

Vice President:
Virginia C. Rederer, Ph.D.:
Virginia is a founding director of the Foundation and heads the grant committee. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Fordham University and Mercy College. Virginia served as superintendent of the Hendrick Hudson School District, retiring in 1998.

Treasurer:
Beth Gruber, CPA:
Beth has been a Director of the Foundation in 2004. In August 2007 Beth was named Treasurer. She was formerly a Principal in the New York office of Ernst & Young LLP, serving clients in the firm’s not-for-profit audit practice. Beth has two children attending Furnace Woods Elementary School, where she serves as PTA treasurer.

Secretary:
Michael G. Goldfarb:
Michael joined the Foundation as a Director in 2007. In the summer of 2007 Michael assumed the duties of Secretary. He works in the information technology field. He and his wife have a daughter who attends Furnace Woods Elementary School.

Directors:

Christine Knowlton:
Christine joined the board as a Director in 2003 bringing her creative design experience to the foundations fundraising events, graphics and website. Formerly a textile designer for the interiors industry Christine began a second career in digital graphics, video and film. She has one Hen Hud graduate and one child in high school

Joan Thompson:
Joan retired from the superintendency in Hendrick Hudson August 2006, after working in the district for 30 years. Joan started as a teacher in BMMS then served as Director of PPS and assistant superintendent prior to becoming superintendent in 1998. Joan helped to start the Foundation in HH to both raise funds and more importantly to bring the various parts of the district together. Joan has lived in the district for over 20 years with her husband Bob, and all 3 children attended HH schools, with her youngest a 10th grader at the HS. In retirement Joan became a Director of the HHCEF and hopes to contribute to its work for many years to come.

Ellen Grabowitz, MD:
Ellen joined the Board the summer of 2006, after completing 6 years as a Board of Education trustee and is rejoining the Board July 2007. She is a local physician, specializing in psychiatry and a parent of 5 children in the district for 20 years. She has a broad perspective, having led the district's original Strategic Planning effort and she is committed to fulfilling the district's mission to Maximize Potential for all our students.

Meetings are generally held at 8:00 pm on the first Tuesday of each month at the District Office on 61 Trolley Rd. in Montrose.

HHCEF is registered with the NYS Attorney General's Charities Bureau. The 990 is available for public inspection.

Tax Status
The Hendrick Hudson Community Education Foundation (HHCEF) was organized in 1995 under the not-for-profit corporation law of the State of New York and is exempt from Federal income taxes. HHCEF qualifies as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is classified as a publicly supported charity. Donors are entitled to the maximum income tax benefits permitted under current Federal laws.

Contributions
HHCEF’s funding comes exclusively from the Hendrick Hudson community. No funding is provided by the school district. HHCEF accepts contributions of cash and securities, including employer matching gifts, as well as donations of used vehicles. See Fundraising for information on how you can contribute to HHCEF.

Grants Awarded
To date, over $115,000 has been granted back to the community for educational initiatives. Grants have been made to every school within the district, the Hendrick Hudson Free Library, and various organizations serving both seniors and youths.
